What it does
Introduces Optional Meeting Invitees, bringing clearer structure to multi-participant meetings by distinguishing between primary invitees and optional attendees.
Meeting status is determined only by responses from the key invitees, so a meeting is not marked as scheduled unless the people who actually matter to the meeting have accepted.
Why it matters
📅 Clearer meeting status
When multiple people are invited, meeting status currently updates as soon as any participant accepts, even if the intended attendee hasn’t responded or declines. Optional invitees remove this ambiguity and make status indicators more accurate.
🎯 More reliable scheduling
Organizers and participants gain confidence that a “Scheduled” meeting truly means the important attendees are confirmed, reducing missed meetings and confusion onsite.
👥 Better collaboration for teams
Colleagues or supporting team members can still be invited without affecting meeting confirmation logic, allowing teams to coordinate internally without disrupting attendee expectations.
📱 Aligns with expanding multi-user meeting support
As multi-participant meetings become more widely supported across the platform, optional invitees provide the structure needed to keep scheduling intuitive and scalable.
The result
A smarter meeting workflow that reflects real attendee intent, helping organizers deliver clearer schedules, better attendee experiences, and fewer surprises when meetings begin.
