Event organizers need more control over session recommendations to make them more relevant and tailored to attendees’ needs. By leveraging custom fields, organizers can better align session suggestions with participant preferences, leading to higher engagement and satisfaction.
Why It Matters
- More Relevant Recommendations
Currently, recommendations are based on automatic tagging, which limits customization. By incorporating custom fields, event organizers can tailor session recommendations to attendees' specific interests, demographics, or registration data, ensuring they receive sessions that matter most to them.
- Increased Engagement
With personalised session suggestions, attendees are more likely to engage with the event, boosting participation rates and satisfaction. More relevant sessions translate into better networking, learning opportunities, and overall event success.
- Flexibility for Organizers
Event organizers gain greater control over recommendations, no longer being restricted by the limitations of the Tag system. Custom fields allow organizers to create dynamic and flexible recommendations that adapt to their event’s specific needs.
What are we doing about it?
We’re moving beyond Tags and integrating Custom Fields into the Session Recommendation system. This shift enables event organizers to customize which sessions get recommended based on a wider range of data, resulting in more relevant suggestions for attendees.
Additionally, new recommendation strategies will consider which sessions participants marked as "Interested" are attending, further enhancing the relevance of session recommendations.
It’s important to note that changes to how recommendations are displayed to attendees are not going to be a part of this update.
